- Joey Villar -

MANILA, Philippines - Perpetual Help’s Keshia de Luna and April Ann Sartin blasted Emilio Aguinaldo’s Annabelle Dionela and Charmelle Belleza, 21-11, 21-6, yesterday to complete a sweep of their elimination round games in the 86th NCAA beach volley tournament at the La Salle-Greenhills sand court.

St. Benilde’s Giza Yumang and Rossan Fajardo overpowered San Beda’s Cherry Mae Quizon and Coline Malana, 21-15, 21-6, to clinch the No. 2 seed in the semifinals with a 7-1 (win-loss) slate.

The Lady Altas will thus face the No. 4 Arellano Lady Chiefs after the latter’s Mary Ann Calleja and Mary Jane Diane Ticar walloped Mapua’s Rachelle Tan and Patricia Aquino, 21-14, 21-17, to book the last seat in the next phase.

The Lady Blazers, for their part, will be pitted against the Letran Knights after the duo of Gena Andaya and Manel Carolino finished with a 6-2 (win-loss) record to finish at No. 3.

Arellano U finished tied with EAC at No. 4 on even 4-4 slates but the former emerged with the higher quotient to catch the last bus to the semis.

In men’s action, Arellano U likewise accomplished a rare sweep after downing Mapua, 21-7, 21-9.

Perpetual Help trounced EAC, 21-7, 21-9, to clinch No. 3 while CSB took the last Final Four berth with a 21-10, 13-21, 15-12 edging of San Beda.

The Chiefs will play the No. 4 Blazers (5-3) while the Knights (7-1) will tackle the Altas (6-2) in today’s semis.
