Anton dominates Hill Climb anew

-

MANILA, Philippines - Triple Hillclimb champion Carlos Anton paved the way for his Mark Young-Yokohama team to dominate three of the six divisions in the recently concluded second leg of the 2010 Hillclimb Championship.

Anton clocked 2:24.48 for the two special stages held in Pias and Baksil, La Union where a record number of 61 racers from all over the country competed.

Anton’s Hornitex-Total teammates Alfie Concepcion and Frankie Domingo both scored decisive victories (2:33.64 and 2:44.41, respectively in Group 4 and Group 2), further boosting their leads in the championship.

Anton and Domingo have been back-to-back winners in the two legs held so far this year and led their respective divisions while Concepcion finished second in the first leg to Japanese driver Harohito Ono.

“We are very happy with the team’s results and all the preparations paid off. The Yokohama tires have been the tire of choice so far and the Mark Young CRX has proven itself once again,” Anton said after clearing the two stages.

Mark Thoman was second to Anton in Group 5 with a time of 2:27.34. In the group 3 Division round 1 winner Ramsey Kairuz ( 2:41.41) was beaten by last year’s Group 1 champion Gary Loy (2:40.46) while Adrianne Matulac (2:43.41) rounded up the top three.

Mark Quinto led the group S-Division with a time of 2:48.45 followed by Gerard Tan and Nic Pacion. Group 1 was won by Mark Laguna and the Historic class was won by Mark Herrera.

The third round of the Championship and last in the North of Luzon for the year will be on June 20 in the hills of La Union.
