Patriots eye lead share vs Indonesians

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Patriots shoot for a fourth straight win and a share of the lead as they collide with the Satria Muda BritAma of Indonesia today in the ASEAN Basketball League at The Arena in San Juan.

The Patriots are heavily favored to prevail over the Indonesians in their 4 p.m. encounter as they seek to join the Singapore Slingers in the lead at 5-1 in the fledgling home-and-away tournament. Admission is free.

“Crowd support will be a big factor but our success will depend on how we play defensively,” said Patriots’ coach Louie Alas. “We have to play smart and aggressive to be able to win.”

A hot start, according to Alas, is also crucial as they intend to put Indonesia’s imports Alexander Hartman and Nakiea Miller out of their comfort zones early in the contest.

Alas also said their imports – PBA and Chinese league veteran Jason Dixon and Brandon Powell – must be ready for a bruising game.

Team owners Mikee Romero of Harbour Centre and businessman Tony Boy Cojuangco believe that local players will also play key roles in the match.
