MANILA, Philippines - Florida Institute scored two victories over the weekend to join San Juan National High School in second behind unbeaten defending champion Xavier School in the eighth San Juan Inter High School basketball tournament at the San Juan gym.
Florida Institute routed Philippine Chen Kuang High School, 73-33, last Saturday then trounced Aquinas School, 84-61, Sunday to tie SJNHS at 2-1.
The defending champion Stallions toppled SJNHS, 102-62, also last Saturday to remain unbeaten in the tournament organized by former PSC commissioner and now San Juan Vice Mayor Leonardo Celles.
They will be shooting for their third straight win against Phil. Chen Kuang HS at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
SJNHS rebounded from the loss to Xavier by beating OB Montessori, 108-74, last Sunday. OB Montessori (0-2) lost to Aquinas School, 61-82, last Saturday.
