Cabangbang rules Abalos Cup with 71

MANILA, Philippines - Rodolfo Cabangbang shot a low net score of one-under-par 71 while Tootsie de Jesus carded a gross two-under-par 70 to win the top two spots in the second Mayor Benhur Abalos Golf Cup held at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

With a 15 handicap, Cabangbang captured the low net championship in the one-day event organized by the Golfers’ Association of Mandaluyong, Inc. (GAMI) and Wack Wack for the benefit of the Ciara Marie Abalos Foundation, a group which extends health care assistance in this city.

De Jesus drained birdies on Nos. 9 and 13 at the par-72 West course for the low gross title in the event presented by Bingo Bonanza and Unilever Phils. with major support from Globe, SM, Greenfield Dev’t., St. Francis Square, Tracsom, Madrigal-Bayot Dev’t., and 7107 Island Cruise.

PTA, Stradcom, Expedition Services, First Imperial Cargo, Clear Blue Services, Unilab, Market Place Mall, DMCI, Landbank Shaw, Robinson’s Land, Shanghai Properties, Dowell Container, Hiroki Azuhata, Lee Garden, and Golfsmith were premier sponsors.

Pagcor, Lancaster Hotel, Group Management Dev’t, Manila Water, Pacific Paint, Pacific Link Golf, Cherry Foodarama, Gruppo Armani, Coun. Jon Abalos, Goldilocks, Camaya Coast, VS&F, Litton & Co., Metropolis Const., Ace Promotion, QC Eye Center, Tsukiden Software, Splash, Printwell, Labelmen, Int’l. Close to 100 of Mayor Abalos’ golfer friends trooped to Wack Wack although none of them went home with Toyota Vios, Club Car and Yamaha golf carts or Osim hi-tech massager staked as hole-in-one prizes.

Randy Reyla and Mario Badillo came through with 72s but the former topped Class A on a better handicap.

Dante Romero (B), Rene Balatbat (C) and Marilou de Leon (ladies) were the other winners in the different classes.
