All's well with board, aggrieved fan

MANILA, Philippines - The PBA fan who had an altercation with Sta. Lucia Realty center Marlou Aquino has put the incident behind after the league’s Board of Governors heard his side of the story.

Jitesh Gidwani visited the PBA office yesterday upon the invitation of board chairman Joaqui Trillio and set the record straight on the incident that took place last June 3 shortly after Game 2 of the quarterfinals series between Sta. Lucia and Burger King at the Araneta Coliseum.

Accompanied by his girlfriend Vanessa and friend Dilip Budhrani, vice-president of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (Phil) Inc and commissioner of Fil-Indian Basketball League, Gidwani assured the Board of Governors in attendance that he has no intention filing a case against the Sta. Lucia cager.

This puts the matter to rest with Gidwani assuring the board he wouldn’t contest PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios decision on the case.

Trillo, who represents Alaska in the board, said the league has learned a lesson from the incident and promised to adopt a “guideline to prevent a similar incident in the future.”

“I also would like to thank the Fil-Indian community, particularly Mr. Budhrani for helping us out in resolving the matter as soon as possible,” Trillo said.

“Barrios said he’s glad the issue has been settled.”
