Smart-Manila rules NBTC D-League
MANILA, Philippines – Smart Sports-Manila routed Davao, 101-60, to complete a sweep of the Nokia National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) D-League yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
With Cris Michael Tolomia and Russel Escoto firing seven points each, the Big City bets outscored their rivals, 23-10, in the second quarter to post a 45-26 lead at halftime.
Smart-Manila continued its assault in the third behind Baser Amer’s 15 points.
Von Chavez and Kiefer Isaac Ravena chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Smart-Manila.
The win was the 13th straight for Manila dating back to the NCR elims of the tournament backed by Nokia Philippines and TAO Corp. under the wings of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas headed by Manny V. Pangilinan.
