MCBL, C3 2009 cage leagues in the works

MANILA, Philippines - The Management Partners Group, Inc. (MPG) is organizing two basketball leagues starting next month as part of its summer treat to various companies and clubs in the country.

Its first offering is the MPG Corporate Basketball League 2009 1st Conference, a tournament open to all company-based teams. Teams must be made up of players who are all employees and are part of the day-to-day operations of the same corporation.

The MCBL was established in 2005 and has held two conferences since 2006.

The other is 2009 C3 (Clubs, Colleagues and Celebrities) Cup.

Teams in both tournaments will be grouped into divisions based on relative strength as determined by the organizers in consultation with the teams. Complete statistics will be posted on the league website.

The guidelines and registration forms for both leagues can be downloaded from the MCBL website at www.gameface.ph/mcbl.php.

The tournament will start late-April and end no later than early-July. Game schedules can be arranged so as not to conflict with existing leagues the team is playing in.

Deadline for registration and the settlement of fees is on March 31.
