Hosoi-Lacson team rules Yulo Memorial

Masahiro Hosoi and Cherry Ann Lacson combined for 156 points to capture the overall championship in the 31st Jose Yulo memorial golf tournament at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club over the weekend.

The Hosoi-Lacson tandem assembled an 82 in the first round then carded a 74-under the PAL (Stableford) scoring format to rule the member-guest team tournament held in honor of the late Speaker. They won a Konka LCD 26” TV plus trophy.

Leana Farrales and Vicky Farrales pooled a 155 from rounds of 81 and 74 to finish second while Toru Yoshida and partner Wada placed third with a 149 after a 70 and a 79.

Dave Hernandez and Joey Huerva won the low gross honors with a 291 from rounds of 148 and 143. Abe Rosal took the individual low gross plum with 71 and 73 for a 144, nipping Tommy Manotoc (70-75-145).

Flor Silao and Dennis Reyes copped the low net honors with 85 (45-40) and 80 (42-38), respectively.

Daily winners were Hiroshi Ito-S. Ozawa (75), Albert See-Adam Armonio (72), Bill Cammack-G. Kropp (76) and Rey Ocampo-Paul Magpantay (74) (low net-north course); Jose Ma. Hechanova-Iggy Clavecilla (79), Anthony Fujita-Nick Magpantay (78), Yasuhiro Matsumoto-Alberto Monreal (75) and Toshikatsu Oka-Y. Tokunaga (75) (low net-south course).

The two-day tournament was backed by Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Diamond Motors Corp., The Turf Co, Pacsports Phils., Inc., Golden Nutritious Foods Corp., Golf Worx, Pilipinas Golf Bag Manufacturing, Merlo Agricultural Corp., Peter Paul Phil. Corp., Seamecor, Inc. Par Options, Inc., Otsuka Pharmaceutical Inc., Dynamic Sports Corp., Ottica Corp., Unilever Phils. and Food Solutions.
