Southwoods Chair Cup draws big field

Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club drew more than 600 participants for the annual Chairman’s Cup, set to start Thursday, making it one of the biggest fields playing in a single club members’ event.

Even with the record number, Manila Southwoods general manager Jeric Hechanova said he and his team have prepared a plan to accommodate them all by devising a smooth pace of play at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Masters and Legends courses in Carmona, Cavite.

He said that the Chairman’s Cup, which has Golforce Inc., Mejore, Dynamic Sports, Mizuno, Warbird Security & Investigation Agency, Inc., Starmakers, Inc., and the Sabah Malaysian Borneo Tourism as major sponsors, set a limit for tournament fees and focus in fostering camaraderie among club members and guests.

A 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GLS-Manual courtesy of Mitsubishi Motors will be offered as hole-in-one prizes on at the Masters 17 the hole and Legends No. 16.

Royal Caribbean International/Baron Travel Corp. will also offer free Alaska Cruise with two Korean Air Business Class tickets Manila-Vancouver-Manila as other prizes for the feat.

 Baron Travel Corp. will also be giving an additional 6D/5N Asia Cruise inclusive of airfare which will be raffled off during the awarding ceremonies. Kart Plaza, Turf Co., SYM Motorbike, El Nido, Pacsports, Wilson Sports, Dynamic Sports Corp., Boracay Regency Resort, Coca-Cola Phils., and Mit-Air Sales Center are also offering hole-in-one prizes.
