Runnex holds 25th anniversary run

The Executive Runners Club of the Philippines ( Runnex), the country’s oldest running group for executives, businessmen, and professionals, will hold its 25th anniversary run Dec. 7 on the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City with close to a thousand runners expected to participate.

The theme for this year’s Executive Classic race is ”Human Energy for the Filipino Race” with the objective of promoting not only physical fitness but also energy conservation and environmental protection.

“We hope that through running, we become physically fit and less reliant on fossil fuels for mobility, this is one way of harnessing human energy to beat the current energy and environment crises,” said Runnex president Art Disini.

The UP campus in Diliman is the ideal site for running as participants will be enjoying the best air quality in Metro Manila while the race route will take the runners under old acacia trees around the sprawling university campus, with the December morning chill complementing the venue.

“ This event is also a tune -up race for the First Quezon City International Marathon that will take place next year sponsored by the city government of Quezon City, “ added Disini.

Registration fee for the race, supported by Pharmaton, Adidas, BPI Foundation, the Quezon City Government, the Quezon City Council of Tourism, and the UP College of Human Kinetics, is P500.
