Daza denies hand in Asi case

A brother of former congressman and now Gov. Raul Daza, yesterday denied allegations that he had a hand in facilitating the documents of Talk N Text cager Asi Taulava to be able to play in the PBA as a Fil-foreign player.

Raymundo Daza was reacting to accusation made by Yuri del Valle, the municipal civil registrar of San Jose in Northern Samar, that he assisted in fixing the papers of alleged Taulava’s kin, particularly the certification of the Fil-Tongan’s grandparents.

"I wish to state for the record that this allegation has no basis in fact. I have never met Del Valle nor discussed any matter with him, including anything to do with Asi Taulava. This is clearly politically motivated by Del Valle, or whoever is behind it to malign my family including my brother Gov. Raul Daza," said Daza.

He added that the testimony of Del Valle could be part of a black propaganda against the Dazas with the national elections less than a year away.

He further stated that he has sought the assistance of counsel on the possibility of filing a case against Del Valle and others for maligning his reputation and that of his family’s.
