Adducul edges Laure for second PBL MVP plum

Welcoat’s Romel Adducul got the big edge on votes over teammate Eddie Laure to earn the coveted Most Valuable Player plum of the PBL Challenge Cup yesterday at the Pasig Sports Center.

It was the second MVP award for Adducul since clinching the same honor in 1997 when he was playing with Chowking.

Both Adducul and Laure earned 75 percent equivalent of 333 points on statistics. But Adducul summed up with 549 points to claim the plum after gaining 216 points on votes.

Laure accumulated a total of 516 after earning 183 points on votes.

"Isang malaking karangalan ito. This is something I will treasure dahil bukod sa binigyan na ako ng PBL ng bahay matapos magsara and MBA, iginawad pa sa akin ang award na ito," said Adducul.

Isang malaking pagkilala ito sa talento at lahat ng efforts at pagod na ibinuhos namin para makarating ang Welcoat sa finals. I share this with my teammates pero sana mag-champion din kami," he added.

Joining Adducul and Laure in the Mythical Team are teammates Ronald Tubid who gathered a total of 451.5 points from 328.5 points on stats and 123 points on votes; ICTSI’s Mark Cardona who tallied 401.25 from 190.25 on stats and 111 points on votes; and Blu All-Purpose’s Aries Dimaunahan who got a total of 326.75 from 273.75 points on stats and 53 points on votes.

Named into the Second Mythical Team are Blu’s Marlon Legazpi, 397.5 points (292.5 stats, 105 votes); Dazz’ Peter June Simon 322.75 points (255.75 stats, 67 votes); Allan Salangsang, 317.25 points (263.25 stats, 54 votes); Cyrus Baguio (304.25 (239.25 stats, 65 votes), and Welcoat’s Paul Artadi 294 points (237 stats, 57 votes).

Cardona was also adjudged Top Newcomer of the Conference. LBC-Batangas’ Alex Compton was handed the Sportsmanship Award while Artadi was the choice for the Most Improved Player award.
