First Couple invited to WW affair

-
The spanking new clubhouse of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club will have its soft opening in time for the 12th Bill Shaw Memorial Golf Classic, the club’s annual member-guest invitational, on Jan. 26 and 27.

The locker rooms, pro shop and main restaurant of the clubhouse will be utilized for the two-day Bill Shaw bash that will be participated in by no less than 300 golfers including top amateurs, business tycoons and corporate bigwigs.

Tonichi Tuason, who heads the organizing committee, also said yesterday that they have invited the First Couple — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband-lawyer Jose Miguel — who regularly play together at Wack Wack to grace the affair.

"We’ve invited the First Couple although we know for a fact that their schedule now is quite hectic. We’re hoping that they still can make it," said Tuason.

According to sports and games vice-chair Bones Floro, there are 160 teams so far in the entry list of the event which has Golforce, Tanduay Distillery, Citigold Priority Banking and Omega as major sponsors.

The hole sponsors are PCSO, DBP, William Shaw Foundation, Unilever, Ms. Saigon, Amanpulo, Discovery Suites, Cong. Gilberto Duavit, Philippine Sports Commission, Pacsports, GG&A Clubshares, Philippine Junior Golf Federation, Pyramid Construction, Kameraworld, Fortune Tobacco, Red Ribbon, Asia Brewery, Citra Metro Tollways, Samsung, Fisherman’s Friend, Alternative Beverage, K-Swiss, Fort Bonifacio Dev’t Corp., Clear Blue and EuroAsia Marble & Granite.
