‘Hiwalay’ muna kay Alexa
Kabado ang Kapamilya actor na si KD Estrada sa pag-uumpisa ng Bagets: The Musical sa January.
Kaya todo raw ang kanyang paghahanda.
“Malapit na. Sobrang lapit na actually. Right now, we’re preparing our dances, ‘yung cardio, because we need to build up our stamina; our stage is really big, and we’ll be running around the entire area. So, we are working on that. Syempre, pagkanta rin. Iyong kanta namin puro ‘80s songs. And ‘yung ‘80s songs have certain energy na kailangan ibigay. Youthful din siya so, we have to go back to our youth and play ourselves as teenagers,” kuwento ni KD after ng Star Magic Spotlight presscon last week.
So, mga ilang song ang na-assign sa’yo?
“Honestly, mga 17 plus.”
More than two hours ang running time nito. At gagampanan ni KD si Raymond Lauchengco.
Mag-uumpisa ang Bagets: The Musical sa Jan. 23 pero sa Jan. 24 pa siya mapapanood.
Pero how was it working with Andres (Muhlach)?
“Yeah, working with Andres. But actually, wala pa kaming shows ni Andres together. I don’t know why, but they’re fixing that up.
“Nag-usap na kami ni Andres, sabi namin na magkaka-show kami around February. Pero for the January shows, parang wala pa.”
Ilang beses mo napanood ‘yung movie version?
Sagot ni KD: “Iyong movie version, pinanood ko siya four times.”
Nag-audition ka for the role?
“Yes, nag-audition ako for the role kasi the role is not under Star Magic, it’s under PETA and Viva.
“Actually, I was like, I think I was the only Star Magic na nag-audition. Besides from Ate Carla Laforteza. And yeah, sobrang grateful ako na nakuha ako ng Viva and I’m super thankful din na pinayagan din ako ng management, Star Magic, na gawin ‘yung project na ito. Kasi, syempre gusto nila for my growth din. And na-miss ko talaga ang mag-theater kasi ‘yun din talaga passion ko,” pahayag ng ka-loveteam ni Alexa Ilacad.
How was it working with Viva artists?
“Sobrang bait nila. Yeah, super chill. Super chill lang. And I’m grateful din na tinanggap din nila ako na Star Magic. Kasi iba-iba rin kami. Meron din isang kaming GMA artist, si Jeff Moses naman. At Cornerstone na si Noel Comia. And sobrang thankful ako na they welcomed us with open arms.”
Ano ito, decision mo na mag-audition?
“Decision ko mag-audition.”
Walang nag encourage na, uy may audition ng ganito?
“Nakita ko lang sa Facebook eh, ‘we’re open. We have auditions for Bagets: The Musical.’ Ipinakita ko sa manager ko. Sabi niya, okay lang. You can do that kasi syempre gusto namin mag-grow ka. Kahit ibang management, we want you to grow.”
Kanino nga ulit character ‘yung pinortray mo?
“Iyong kay Raymond Lauchengco. Actually, I auditioned for two roles. Iyong role ni Aga Muhlach and ‘yung role ni Raymond Lauchengco. Pero mas na-feel ko ‘yung Raymond Lauchengco.”
So, start na ba ito ng pagiging solo ninyo ni Alexa? Are you still a love team?
“No, we’re still a love team. Like, we did in prod.”
Pero kung ikaw ‘yung papipiliin, mas gusto mo ba na to stay in a love team? Pangungulit sa kanya ng isa pang kausap na writer.
“Why not do both.”
Kasi si Alexa, ‘di ba nasa Your Face... (Sounds Familiar) din siya?
“Yeah. Why not do both. There’s no rule na pwede ako like, if nagso-solo na ako, I should do solo only. I can do both.”
Anyway, the cast of Bagets: The Musical features alternating leads: Mico Hendrix Chua/Andres Muhlach (Adie), KD Estrada/Ethan David (Arnel), Noel Comia Jr./Tomas Rodriguez (Gilbert), Milo Cruz/Migo Valid (Tonton), and Jeff Moses/Sam Shoaf (Topee), supported by a strong ensemble including actresses like Ava Santos (Ivy) and veterans like Kakai Bautista, na mag-uumpisa sa January until March 2026 at Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Ito ay joint production of Viva Communications Inc., The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts, under the creative vision of PETA.
Maribel Legarda will be directing the musical, with J-mee Katanyag serving as playwright and Vince Lim bilang musical director.
