MMFF 2014 Bigger, Better, and Bolder – MMDA
MANILA, Philippines - Puwede nang mag-submit ng kanilang entries ang mga indie film para makasali sa Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 - New Wave competition.
MMDA Chairman and MMFF Overall Chairman Francis Tolentino said fina-finalize na rin nila ang entries for Full Length, Animation, Student Shorts and Student Short Films and Cinephone sections.
Ang New Wave competition was introduced in 2010 dahil nga sa patuloy na paglago ng Indie films which serve as a platform para sa aspiring students and indie film enthusiasts to showcase their talents. “This year, as we celebrate our 40th year, MMFF will continue the tradition of supporting independent films through a bigger, better, and bolder New Wave Section,” sabi ni Chairman Tolentino na hanggang ngayon na lang maninilbihan sa MMFF dahil babalik na sa pagiging pulitiko.
Napili na ang walong kasali sa full length category na ang karamihan ay sequel na sa mga naunang kasaling pelikula. Kaya naman aligaga na ang mga may kasaling pelikula na pinangungunahan nina Vic Sotto, Kris, Aquino, at Vice Ganda.
Sa Students Shorts, puwede dito ang student filmmakers from local colleges and universities. Entries must have a maximum 20 minutes running time and must have been filmed within 2014. Deadline for submission is until October 4.
Para naman sa Animation category, ang entries must have a maximum total running time of 12 minutes and completed from 2013 onwards.
Ang Cinephone competition, meanwhile, is a nationwide cellphone movie making contest para sa high school and college students. Ang theme ngayong taon ay Pagbangon Pagkalipas ng Kalamidad (Disaster Recovery/Rehabilitation). Deadline for submission of entries is on October 4.
Ang magiging Best Picture ay tatanggap ng P300,000 sa Full Length category at P200,000 sa Special Jury. For Student Shorts, Best Picture will receive P50,000 and P25,000 each para sa special awards.
The Best Picture in Animation section on the other hand will get P100,000 cash prize habang P25,000 sa Cinephone ang anim na winners plus paid internship sa Viva Films.
Tindahan ng kotse nina Dingdong winasak din ng bagyo
Winasak din pala ng bagyong Glenda ang tindahan ng kotse nina Dingdong Dantes sa Parañaque.
Ang sabi sa report ng GMA 7, wasak ang glass wall ng car showroom ng aktor na vice president ng nasabing tindahan ng mga kotse.
Mabuti na lang daw at natanggal na ang mga naka-display na kotse bago pa humampas ang malalakas na hangin.

Ang methodology sa pagpili ayon sa TIME : The ranking above is based on a reading comprehension test known as Simple Measure of Gobbledygook (SMOG). The SMOG test measures the number of three syllable words used in a text to calculate the years of education required to understand it. An environmental activist, DiCaprio often tweets about “conservation” and global warming which may have helped him earn the top spot.
In a recent analysis of more than 1 million tweets, we found that messages on Twitter average a fourth-grade reading level. All of the celebrities above exceed that grade. To find Twitter’s smartest celebrities, we analyzed the last 20 tweets from the 500 highest followed celebrities (stripped of URLs and hashtags), then ran the results through the SMOG test to calculate reading level. SMOG is intended for processing English, so users tweeting in multiple languages were removed. Computer processing of natural language has its limitations. For example, the SMOG test can falsely read slang as multi-syllable words.
