CEBU, Philippines - Disisais anyos siya dihang nagsugod sa natad sa beauty pageants, apan napildi siya sa una niyang suway. Sa sinugdanan, nadawat ra niya ang resulta apan may mga higala matud pa niya ang nagpaabot nga siya maoy midaog, hinungdan nga gikaguol niya kini. Nawad-an na unta siya og gana, apan ang iyang inahan maoy nag-agni niya nga musalmot pag-usab og beauty pageants. Nahunahuna niya nga mas maayo tuod nga musalmot siya pag-usab aron pamatud-an ang iyang katakus.

Si Marlon Wafer, tag-iya sa Wafer Models agency maoy iyang giisip nga nagmatuto niya paingon sa natad sa indigay sa kaanyag, dihang 13 anyos pa lamang siya mipailawom siya og modeling workshop niini, ug napiling Best Model adtong 2006.

Para kang Shawnaa, ang tanan, suway-suway lang para niya aron sukdon ang iyang kaugalingong katakus. Miabot siya sa kalibutan sa showbiz, gumikan usab sa suporta sa iyang pamilya.

October 2008, mipailawom siya sa audition nga gipasiugdahan sa Eat Bulaga dinhi sa Sugbo. Paglabay sa usa ka semana, nakadawat siya og suwat nga kinahanglan niyang mutekang sa Manila, alang sa final casting sa bag-ong segment sa nahisgutang noontime show. Human sa usa ka semana nga pag-istar niya sa Manila, usa siya sa 10 ka mga maanyag nga babayi nga nalakip sa grupo nga gipasikat isip Bababoom.

Gipailawom sila og nagkadaiyang workshops, apan paglabay sa unom ka buwan, giwagtang ang segment sa Bababoom Girls sa Eat Bulaga.

“I thought after the workshops we had we will be aired as a regular artist and be seen in TV again but, I was wrong. They said in showbiz you must have the patience. And indeed, I learned to be extremely patient in waiting for my turn. I learned to be more independent, I grew more mature to understand that we have to wait for the right time; that not all things are meant for us,” paambit ni Shawnaa.

It’s hard for me because I have to take a cab going to those places and hello?? Mahal kaayo magtaxi. Whatever God is planning for me, so be it!

Kasamtangan siya nga makita sa TV5, sa teleseryeng Isang Dakot na Luha isip bestfriend sa character ni Karel Marquez.

Banat News Hugyaw (BNH): Describe yourself. Unsay ganahan ug dili nimo ganahan sa usa ka tawo?

Shawnaa: I am an adventurous kind of person. I am cheerful, I am crazy sometimes and I am frank. Being frank for me is not embarrassing a person in front of other people. I am not like that but my being frank is when I do not like a person I get rid of them, I detach myself from them especially when he/she is too foul, kanang bastos and feeling close especially when he/she is saying things na should not be said in public or in common friends.

BNH: Unsay imung baruganan sa pre-marital sex?

Shawnaa: Being brought up in a family of devout catholic and educated for 10 years in an exclusive school run by nuns, sex before marriage is a sin. Doing it makes one guilty and one sin leads to another.

BNH: Unsa nga problema sa mga batan-on ang para nimo maoy kinahanglang atimanon sa goberno? Ngano man?

Shawnaa: Kailangan atimanon sa government ang mga out of school youth. Kay diri man magsugod maghimo og binuang ang mga youth. Of course as a teenager naay peer pressure mao na daghan ang mga kawatan na teenagers, gang rapes and addicts. The government should give a program for them, teach them ways to live healthy and how to earn a little living like selling water, rags, newspaper. And ang pinaka important kay to give them a talk to inspire them that poverty is not a hindrance to success.

BNH: Kung kaatubang nimo ang Ginoo unsay imong pangayuon niya? Ngano man?

Shawnaa: Mangayo ko og sign, enlightenment kung I’m in the right track ba and guidance. Kay sometimes di ba naabot nako sa point sa kapoy nako. One year na pag-stop kay sayang kaayo. Ang pag artista-artista kay wala man gyud sa akong plano pero I’m just wondering ngano naabot ni siya sa akong life karun. Kung gihatag gyud ni God why do I have to experience a lot of circumstances?

BNH: Unsay imong pilion: fame or fortune? Ngano man?

Fame of course! That is what I am hoping to come soon. Fame because if i am famous I will have a lot of endorsements and projects. If I will have endorsements, I will earn a lot. And being fortunate is not just about having money and buying everything I want because I believe God is using me as an instrument to share the blessings I am receiving to the less fortunate people. I am not rich but I have been receiving blessings from God and I am sharing it to others and it is such a wonderful feeling .

BNH: Unsa para nimo ang meaning sa success?

Shawnaa: I am now walking in a very narrow road; if I fall on the right side it is my studies and if I fall on the left side it is my career but on the end of the road it is my diploma and a colorful career.

For now success for me is to finish my degree in BS Pschology so that whatever will happen I have a diploma. Diploma in our family is very important and education is the best instrument that we can keep for a lifetime. My secondary priority is my career which is not for a lifetime. So what I am doing now while waiting for my career to bloom I am studying also. If I can do things now, I should do it for tomorrow might be too late. To achieve those is success for me.
