Apela sa ASEAN...

MANILA, Philippines — Dahil sa umano’y ­lumilikha ng uncertainty at instability sa mga miyembro kung kaya’t nanawagan si Pa­ngulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) na talakayin na ang territorial dispute sa South China Sea.

Ito ang naging apela ni Pangulong Duterte sa 35th ASEAN Summit plenary session sa Thailand.

Aniya, dapat maresolba na ito ng mapayapa alinsunod sa international law kabilang ang United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Wika pa ng Pangulo, nanalo ang Pilipinas sa arbitral case nito laban sa China kaya dapat ay ang ibang claimants at mapayapang pamamaraan din ang tahakin.

“Not with standing the lack of enthusiasm by some external partners, I believe that we in ASEAN are one in the view that an effective and substantive COC will be good for the region,’ giit pa nito.

Sabi pa ni Duterte, dapat pairalin ng ASEAN ang pagsusulong ng negosasyon at patas na pag-uusap tungo sa tagumpay.
