BEST tankers hataw sa PSI meet

MANILA, Philippines — Muling umarangkada ang Behrouz Elite Swimming Team (BEST) sa pagkakataong ito sa ngalan ni Jordan Ken Lobos sa 2022 Philippine Swimming Incorporated (PSI) National Open na ginaganap sa Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool sa Malate, Manila.

Pinagharian ng 19-an­yos na si Lobos ang men’s 100m breaststroke sa bilis na isang minuto at anim na segundo para pataubin si second placer Samuel Alcos (1:06.07) at third placer Rafael Isip (1:07.02).

Magandang resbak ito para kay Lobos na nagkasya lamang sa ikatlong puwesto sa men’s 50m breaststroke sa opening day ng torneo.

Hataw pa rin sina Brent International School standout Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh at Jules Mirandilla matapos makasiguro ng pilak na medalya sa kani-kanyang events.

Pumangalawa si Moj­deh sa women’s 50m butterfly (29.65) at 400m Individual Medley (5:16.29).

Sa kabilang banda, pumangalawa si Mirandilla sa men’s 50m butterfly (25.70).

Sumampa naman sa podium si Marcus Johannes De Kam nang pumangatlo ito sa men’s 200m freestyle sa bilis na 1:59.81. Nagdag­dag naman si John Neil Paderes ng tanso sa 200m backstroke (2:13.81).

Matapos ang dalawang araw ng kumpetisyon, humakot na ang BEST squad ng tatlong ginto, limang pilak at tatlong tansong medalya.

Nangunguna si Mojdeh sa women’s individual ranking bitbit ang 71 points para ungusan sina Thanya De La Cruz (60 points) at Xiandi Chua (60 points).

Sa men’s division, bumabandera si Joshua Del Rio na may 86 points kasunod si Miguel Barreto (60) at De Kam (59). Nasa ikawalo naman si Mirandilla na may 50 points.

“We are looking forward to another great showing come day three of the competition. It was a great first two days but our swimmers are all motivated and determined since most of them are competing for the first time since the pandemic started,” ani BEST team ma­nager Joan Mojdeh.
