MANILA, Philippines — Ipinagmalaki ng PLDT at Smart Communications, Inc. si Hidilyn Diaz matapos angkinin ng national weightlifter ang tiket sa 2021 Olympic Games sa Tokyo, Japan sa Hulyo.
Ang 30-anyos na si Diaz ang pang-pitong Pinoy athlete na nakakuha ng Olympic berth matapos sina pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo at boxers Eumir Felix Marcial, Irish Magno, Nesthy Petecio at Carlo Paalam
“We have always believed in the importance of sports in nation-building, and Hidilyn has given us another reason to be proud as Filipinos,” ani Smart Communications President at CEO at PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Al Panlilio. “We are continuously supporting her in her journey to the Olympics, as she joins the roster of Filipino athletes who will be representing the country in this much-awaited sporting event.”
Solidong tulong ang ibinibigay ng Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation (MVPSF), isang organisasyon na sumusuporta sa mga Filipino athletes, kay Diaz para sa kanyang paghahanda at pagsali sa mga torneo.
