MANILA, Philippines — Nakakuha ng bagong termino si Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta matapos ang isinagawang eleksiyon ng asosasyon kahapon sa Century Park Hotel sa Manila.
Nanalo si Araneta laban kay Negros Occidental Football Association president Ricky Yanson sa botong 23-12.
“Rest assured, we will do better and we will move on as one. I enjoin everyone to unite for the good of Philippine football. I am extending my hand to my opponent so we can bring football further,” ani Araneta.
Kasama ni Araneta na nanalo si Cotabato Mayor Joselito Piñol bilang vice president.
Nakakuha ng malaking boto si Araneta mula sa Mindanao block.
Ipinangako ni Araneta na palalawakin nito ang grassroots development program sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa. Palalakasin din nito ang Philippines Football League (PFL) na magiging daan upang makapagtaguyod ng mas malawak na youth at age-group tournaments.
Isasagawa rin ang mga age-group tournaments sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao.
“All the money we usually spend for the league will now be plowed back to the development of the youth,” ani Araneta.
Maluwag naman na tinanggap ni Yanson ang pagkatalo.
Nangako rin ito na ipagpapatuloy ang programa nito para sa mga kabataan at ang solidong suporta sa mga programa para sa Philippine Football.
“I graciously acknowledge the victory of Mr. Mariano “Nonong” Araneta and sincerely wish him well as the new president of the Philippine Football Federation. I will continue to help Philippine Football through the “Football Para Sa Lahat” advocacy,” ani Yanson.
