PSL tankers lumapit sa overall title sa Tokyo

MANILA, Philippines — Humakot pa ang Philippine Swimming League (PSL) ng 11 ginto, 5 pi­lak at 5 tansong me­dalya upang makalapit sa inaasam na overall championship sa 2018 Tok­­yo Invitational Swimming Championship sa St. Mary’s In­­ternational School swimming pool sa Tokyo, Japan.

Muling bumandera sa ratsada ng Pilipinas si Aishel Cid Evangelista ng West Manila Christian School nang pagharian ang boys’ 8-under 100m free­style sa pamamagitan ng record-breaking time na isang minuto at 12.17.

Winasak ni Evangelis­ta ang re­kord na 1:14.61 na naitala ni Kei Karamaki no­ong 1987.

Nauna nang binasag ni Evangelista 25-taong re­kord ni Filipino Olympian Miguel Mo­lina sa 25m freestyle (15.79).

Hindi rin maawat si Pala­rong Pambansa Most Be­medalled Athlete Mica­ela Jasmine Mojdeh na ku­mana pa ng isang rekord sa girls’ 11-12 50m butterfly ta­ngan ang 29.91 segundo - sapat para tabunan ang 29.98 na lumang marka ni Yuri Chino noong 1997.

Nag-ambag ng tig-dala­wang ginto sina Phency Joyce Bose sa girls’ 15-18 200m backstroke (2:37.88) at 200m freestyle (2:25.13), at Richelle Callera sa girls’ 8-under 25m butterfly (16.71) at 100m freestyle (1:18.07).

May tig-iisang ginto si­na Trump Christian Luis­tro ng Hope Christian School-Le­gazpi (boys’ 9-10 50m butterfly, 36.28), at Gene­ral Santos City bets Zaine Franchesca Abao (girls’ 9-10 100m breaststroke, 1:44.49), Ellaiza Nicole Ro­jo (girls’ 13-14 200m free­style, 2:21.39), at John Ale­xander Talosig (boys’ 13-14 200m freestyle, 2:01.23), at ang girls’ 11-12 200m freestyle relay (2:10.08).

“I am extremely happy with the results the kids are getting in the Japan com­pe­tition. It only proves that our program is on track. We are producing a future world champions and we are thankful to all of the people who supported us.
