Casimero bagong world champion

MANILA, Philippines - Sa kanilang rematch ni Anmat Ruenroeng ng Thailand ay tiniyak ni Johnriel Casimero na hindi na siya matatalo sa scorecards.

Pinatumba ni Casimero si Ruenroeng sa fourth round para agawin sa Thai fighter ang hawak nitong IBF flyweight title noong Miyerkules sa Diamond Court sa Beijing, China.

Niresbakan ni Casimero (22-3-0, 14 KOs) si Ruenroeng (17-1-0, 5 KOs) matapos matalo sa kanilang unang paghaharap noong Hunyo ng 2015 sa Thailand.

Dalawang beses pinabagsak ng 26-anyos na si Casimero, tubong Ormoc City, Leyte, ang 37-anyos na si Ruenroeng sa fourth round hanggang itigil ni referee Tony Weeks ang laban sa huling 2:10 minuto nito.

Ang bakanteng IBF flyweight title ay nakuha ni Ruenroeng matapos talunin si Filipino boxer Rocky Fuentes noong Enero ng 2014 at limang beses nagdepensa, kasama ang panalo kay Zou Shiming ng China sa Macau noong nakaraang taon.

Si Casimero, dating IBF light flyweight king, ang pangat­long Filipino world champion sa kasalukuyan matapos sina Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes (WBO light flyweight) at Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire Jr. (WBO super bantamweight).

Sinabi ni promoter Sampson Lewkowicz na balak niyang itapat si Casimero kay World Boxing Council champion Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez ng Nicaragua para sa isang unification fight.

“Tell him we are ready any time,” wika ni Lewkowicz sa kampo ni Gonzalez.

“They say no one wants to fight Gonzalez. We do. John Riel is right here and ready to unify the championships. My phone is always on, let’s make it happen,” dagdag pa nito.
