MANILA, Philippines — Nais na ng gobyerno na makakuha ng buong refund mula sa pharmaceutical company na Sanofi Pasteur para sa mga nagastos sa dengue vaccine.
Ito ang naging desisyon ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III matapos hikayatin ni Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III ang Department of Health (DOH) na hingin ang kabuuang P3.5 bilyon para sa nagastos sa Dengvaxia.
“I support Senator Pimentel’s statement that we should demand full refund of all Dengvaxia vaccines,” wika ni Duque sa The STAR.
Nauna nang pumayag ang Sanofi na ibalik ang P1.2 bilyon para sa mga hindi nagamit na Dengvaxia.
“I demanded a refund for the purpose of using the money to assist the vaccinated children and their families aside from the fact that the vaccines are set to expire in September,” patuloy ng kalihim.
Tiniyak naman ni Duque na mananagot pa rin ang Sanofi kahit na maibigay sa kanila ang refund.
Samantala, nais naman ng Malacañang na sagutin ng pharmaceutical company ang gastusin ng mga naapektuhan ng naturang bakuna maliban pa sa refund.
“After the investigation and it has been established that Sanofi had suppressed some information that harmed our young people, we won’t just seek a full refund. We will also seek damages,” pahayg ni Roque sa kaniyang panayam sa dzMM.
“But that can only happen after the investigation of the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation), the DOJ (Department of Justice) and the Senate because we cannot act based on hearsay especially of people who are not experts,” dagdag niya.
Nasa 730,000 estudyante ng Central Luzon, Calabarzon at National Capital Region ang nabakunahan ng Dengvaxia.
Nag-ugat ang kontrobersya matapos aminin ng Sanofi ang dalang panganib ng bakuna sa mga hindi pa nagkakaroon ng Dengue.
