MANILA, Philippines – Sinuspinde na ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ang kontrobersyal na Anti-Distracted Driving Act kasunod ng panawagan ng ilang mga senador na itigil muna ang pagpapatupad nito.
Sinabi ni LTFRB Board Member and spokesperson Aileen Lizada na susundin nila ang mungkahi ng mga mambabatas na umalma sa anila’y kalabisan sa pagpapatupad ng batas.

Marami ang umalma sa mga ipinagbawal ng LTFRB sa line of sight ng mga driver. Kabilang dito ang paggamit ng navigational applications ng mga cellphone hanggang sa rosary na nakasabit.

Sinabi ni Sen. JV Ejercito kahapon na pinagulo ng Department of Transportation ang batas at tila hindi nila ito naintindihan. Nasa ilalim ng DOTr ang LTFRB at Land Transportation Office.
“It seems that DOTr officials misunderstood the essence of the Anti-Distracted Driving Act. They have made matters complicated when it is basically just about banning the use of cellphones while driving,” pahayag ni Ejercito.
"It is counterintuitive when using Waze or other navigation apps since the use of cellphone is less dangerous if it is within the line of sight. Every second that the driver's eyes are on the road counts. Mas delikado pa yumuko!" dagdag niya.
