Sayang at ‘di pala matutuloy ang pag-direk ni Bb. Joyce Bernal ng two entries in this year’s Metro Manila Filmfest (MMFF). May ruling daw kasi ang MMFF na no director will be allowed to have two film entries sa event.

Nauna raw, ayon kay Direk Joyce, na ini-offer sa kanya ang pelikulang 10,000 Hours ng Philippine Film Studio, starring Robin Padilla at tinanggap daw agad niya ito.

Kamakailan, ipinatawag naman daw siya ni Boss Orly Ilacad, whose OctoArts Films will co-produce Torky and My Little Bossing with M-Zet Productions, APT, and Kris Aquino Film Productions.

At napili siya para magdirek ng movie, bungad sa kanya ni Boss Orly.

Since the film daw would star Bossing Vic Sotto, Kris, Ogie Alcasid, and child stars Bimby Yap, kaagad nagkaroon siya ng interest na tanggapin ang offer.

Ani Direk Joyce: “It would have been a first for me to direk two MMFF movies. I had no idea about the MMFF ruling.

“Pero sabi nga, rules should rule. And for respeto sa mga kinauukulan behind 10,000 Hours, kanilang movie ang aking ididirek. And I know Boss Orly and the other producers of Torky and My Little Bossing will understand.”

Direk Joyce directed both Robin and Kris in the ABS-CBN teleserye, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw.

According to MMFF’s overall chair Francis Tolentino, all in all, the event’s executive committee received a total of 15 entries, as early as June 10, for the Mainstream Category.

All producers interested na makasali sa MMFF were requested to submit a script of their possible entries. Be Careful With My Heart, ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc., starring Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria; Pagpag, ABS-CBN Productions, Skylight Films and Regal Entertainment, starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla; Kimmy Dora (prequel) ng Spring Films, Inc., starring Piolo Pascual and Eugene Domingo and My Super Kap, Imus Productions, Inc., starring Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla, Ogie Alcasid, and Toni Gonzaga.

Now on its 39th year, the MMFF starts officially on December 25. For a change, these entries will be shown in theaters nationwide.

Likewise, ani Chair Francis, in recognition of the proliferation of a large pool of animators in the country, nagdagdag sila ng New Wave Animation Category.
