Sen. Lito sinunggaban agad ang Little Champ

YSTAR - Baby E - Pang-masa

Salve A., let’s all give Sen. Lito Lapid a hand for his decision to stage a showbiz comeback via the action-drama series Little Champ.

Sa ilan pa lamang na episode ng Little Champ, it’s reportedly creating a big following. As it is, Little Champ ay nilalampaso na, kung hindi man ay ‘‘nilalamog’’ na, ang mga katapat na programa sa kabilang channel.

In its premiere episode, the show registered a national rating of 17%, as reported by one of the country’s most reliable survey groups, the Kantar Media.

Aired before TV Patrol on ABS-CBN, nakatutuwang ’di lang ang mga bagets sa bahay ang nananood ng series kundi maging ang kani-kanilang mga magulang.

Ganun man, sa presscon last Friday organized by the group of Raymond  Dizon, ang business unit head ng series, natatawang ini-announce ni Sen. Lito na ’di siya ang gumaganap na Little Champ kung hindi ang seven years old na baguhang si JB Agustin.

‘‘Saludo ako sa batang ’yan. Magaling. Napakagaling na artista,’’ ani Sen. Lito.

‘‘Kung sabagay, wala kang itulak-kabigin sa mga kasamahan kong artista sa Little Champ kung pag-arte at dedication sa trabaho ang pag-uusapan. Somehow, they inspire me. First time ko to work with most of them.”

Sen. Lito refers to his co-stars Lara Quigaman, Jake Roxas, Jhong Hilario, Coleen Garcia, Paolo Serrano, among others.

Sir Raymund Dizon said that when he was presented by his creative staff, headed by Gina Tagasa, with the concept ng Little Champ, he was immediately impressed. ’Di lang kakaiba ito, bago pa ang dating sa manonood.

An action-drama series na may degree, wika nga, of fantasy, nai-imagine na niya how the young TV audience will react to the series. First na magpa-feature nga naman ng isang talking horse sa isang teleserye.

As when showbiz talks about stars associated with horses, the first person that comes to his mind, according to Sir Raymund, is Sen. Lito.

It turned out that Sen. Lito was just waiting, for a right project, para ma-inspire siya to act in a series for the first time.

Ang naging next objective ni Sir Raymund was to gather ang mga inaakala niyang future action stars. At sino pa ba ang dalawa sa mga ito kung hindi ang mga anak ng kilalang action stars in their time who are not only deadringer but are eager as well to follow their fathers’s footsteps?

It was not difficult for Sir Raymund to ask Jolo Revilla, son of Sen. Bong Revilla, Jr. and Renz Fernandez, son naman of the late Rudy Fernandez, action stars both, to be part of the series. Napakalaking ‘‘selling point,’’ aniya sa dalawa ang presence in Sen. Lito in it.

By the way, get the chance to meet JB Agustin, the Little Champ himself, along with his fellow child performer Sofia Millares, when they visit different malls in Metro Manila on Easter Sunday, March 23.
