Ang tulong ng PAGCOR sa gobyerno at madlang Pinoy

MAY P2 billion halaga ang ibinigay ng PAGCOR sa Office of the President para pondohan ang paglaban sa nakakamatay na COVID-19.

“The P2 billion was remitted to the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) under the Office of the President in response to Proclamation No. 922, decla-ring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Phi-lippines brought about by the COVID-19 virus,” sabi ni PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea D. Domingo.

Birada ni Domingo, ang gobyerno ay nangangailangan ng karagdagang pond upang suportahan ang DOH sa paglaban sa pandemic. Kabilang sa mga ito ay ang procurement ng personal protective equipment, operating expenses ng Bureau of Qua-rantine at suporta para sa mga test na isinasagawa ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

“Ang bilang ng mga nakumpirma ng COVID-19 patients sa Philippines my Philippines ay tumaas at kaya naman nagdeklara na si Boss Digong ng state of public health emergency dahil dito. Gusto naming matulungan ang mga concerned agencies sa paglaban sa nakamamatay na sakit. Kaya, agad naming ibinigay ang P2 bilyong pondo na direkta remitted sa SCPF, “ ayon kay Domingo.

Kuwento ni Domingo ang pagkakaloob ng SCPF, ay alinsunod sa Seksyon 7 (a) ng Presidential Decree No. 1869 o ang PAGCOR Charter na may mandato ng paglalaan at pamamahagi ng mga kita ng corporation earmarked para sa imprastruktura at socio-civic projects.

Dahil sa magandang kita ng PAGCOR mula sa mga gaming operations nito, ang ahensiya ay nagagawang magbigay ng malaking halaga para pondohan ang iba’t ibang mga proyekto ng gobyerno.

  “In 2019, we recorded P75.8 billion in gaming revenues, and among our biggest sources are our slot machine operations, electronic bingo, table games operations, regulatory fees from the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) and licensed casinos. Our remarkable revenues translate to increased remittances to our government and more help for Filipinos in-need,” dagdag ni Domingo.
