MANILA, Philippines — Nakabalik na sa Pampanga si scoring guard Terrence Romeo ng San Miguel noong Sabado matapos makarekober sa Achilles tendon injury.
Sinabi ni Beermen coach Leo Austria na maaaring makalaro ang three-time scoring champion sa Game Two ng kanilang best-of-three quarterfinals series ng NorthPort Batang Pier sa 2021 PBA Philippine Cup sa Bacolor, Pampanga.
“Terrence is already in the hotel, but we have to follow the protocols as he needs a two-day quarantine,” ani Austria.
Bago nalasap ang ikalawa niyang injury nga-yong season ay nagposte si Romeo ng league-leading na 19.0 points per game.
Noong Linggo ay si-nandalan ni Austria si Alex Cabagnot para sa 88-87 pag-lusot ng San Miguel sa NorthPort sa Game One ng kanilang quarterfinal series.
Ipinasok ni Cabagnot ang isang fadeaway shot sa nalalabing 1.5 segundo ng fourth quarter para ibigay sa Beermen ang 1-0 bentahe sa kanilang duwelo ng Batang Pier.
Huling naglaro ang 38-anyos na si Cabagnot noong Hulyo 28 kung saan siya nagkaroon ng knee injury sa 99-80 pagdurog ng SMB sa Blackwater.
“He told me na he will be back. And I know for the fact na siya ay nagpapakondisyon dahil he’s very professional. Alam niya iyong gagawin niya,” ani Austria kay Cabagnot. “And I trusted him because he’s used to this kind of pressure.”
Sa loob ng 22 minutong paglalaro ay umiskor si Cabagnot, ang No.2 overall pick ng Sta. Lucia noong 2005 PBA Draft, ng team-high 20 points.
“He gave me the trust, and he even left me out there, so thank you so much coach. I just wanna say thank you to coach first, and to my teammates,” sabi ni Cabagnot. “They didn’t mind me playing these much mi-nutes.”
