MANILA, Philippines — Sisimulan ng national billiards team ang pagtumbok sa gintong medalya sa pagsisimula ng 2019 Southeast Asian Games billiards and snooker competitions ngayong araw sa Manila Hotel Tent sa Maynila.

Unang masisilayan sa aksiyon sina dating World 9-Ball champion Carlo Biado at veteran international campaigner Johann Chua na sasabak sa men’s 9-ball pool doubles sa alas-10 ng umaga.

Magsisimula rin ang bakbakan sa men’s snooker doubles, men’s 1-cushion carom at women’s 10-ball pool singles.

Ipaparada ng Pilipinas si legendary cue master Efren “Bata” Reyes sa men’s 1-cushion carom kung saan nais nitong makakuha ng unang gintong medalya sa individual event sa SEA Games.

Tanso lamang ang naiuwi ni Reyes noong 2011 sa Palembang, Indonesia, 2013 sa Naypryitaw, Myanmar at 2015 sa Singapore.

Ibinalik naman sa kalendaryo ng SEA Games ang 10-ball event na huling nilaro noong 2013 Myanmar SEA Games.

Kasama rin sa koponan sina Basil Hasan Al Shaj-jar, Rubilen Amit, Floriza Andal, Alvin Barbero, Chezka Centeno, Francisco Dela Cruz, Benjamin Guevarra Jr., Jeffrey Ignacio, Michael Angelo Mengorio, Dennis Orcollo, Iris Rañola, Jeffrey Roda at Luis Saberdo.

Pakay ng national billiards team na malampasan ang dalawang ginto, isang pilak at dalawang tanso nito noong 2017 edisyon sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
