MANILA, Philippines — Si Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William “Butch” Ramirez mismo ang panauhin panda-ngal sa isasagawang groundbreaking ceremony ngayong alas-9 ng umaga para sa itatayong National Government Administrative Center ng New Clark City kung saan maglalagay rin ng mga bagong sports facilities.
Ang itatayong state-of-the-art sports facilities sa loob mismo ng New Clark City ay nilaanan ng Bases Conversion Development Authority ng mahigit 50 ektaryang lupa sa loob ng dating US Air Force Base sa Pampanga.
Nakatakdang matapos ang nasabing modernong sports facilities na may modernong Athletics Stadium at Aquatic Center bago mag-umpisa ang 30th Southeast Asian Games sa 2019, sabi ni Vivencio Dizon, ang Presidente at Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ng Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
“By December of 2019, we will actually be hosting some of the events for the SEA Games in New Clark City. We will be building two facilities and these are an athletic stadium and an aquatic centre. That’s the new beginning of the New Clark City,” sabi ni Dizon sa kanilang website.
Ang bagong sports city ay magiging tahanan na rin ng mga atleta dahil ililipat na rin doon ang mahigit 600-elite athletes mula Maynila at Pasig City upang magsanay para sa Asian Games at Southeast Asian Games, ayon kay Ramirez.
Kasama na rin sa bagong state-of-the-art athletes training center ang mga modernong pasilidad para sa seminars, edukasyon, scientific research, athletes talents identification program at sports medicine para sa mga atleta.
Bukod kay Ramirez, ang main guest of honor, inaasahan din ang pagdalo nina Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose Cojuangco, 2019 Philippine Sea Games Organizing Committee chairman at Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.
Inaasahan din ang pagdalo nina Presidential Consultant for Sports Dennis Uy, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea at Presidential Management Staff head Bong Go at iba pang sports officials sa naturang seremonya.
Nauna ng sinabi nina Ramirez, Cojuangco at Cayetano na bumubuo sa PhilSoc (Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee) 2019, na bukod sa Clark, ang ibang sports events na kasali sa 30th Southeast Asian Games sa Nobyembre, 2019 ay gaganapin sa mga kalapit na probinsiya ng Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Bulacan at Manila.
