Tagumpay ang operasyon ni Russell

NEW YORK -- Sumailalim si Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell sa isang arthroscopic surgery sa kanyang kaliwang tuhod noong Biyernes.

Ang proseso ay isinagawa ni Dr. Riley Williams III sa Hospital for Special Surgery.

Wala pang katiyakan kung kailan siya makakabalik sa laro para sa Nets.

“It’s an arthroscopic surgery, so the plan would be for him to return this season,” sabi ni Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks.  “It’s definitely frustrating for D’Angelo. He’s going into this as another challenge. He knows he’ll bounce back from this and we have no doubts in our mind that he’ll be better and stronger than he was before.”

Noong nakarang season ay nagkaroon si Russell ng knee injuries kaya hindi siya masyadong nakalaro.

Ngunit ang bagong injury na nangyari sa nakaraang road trip ng Nets ay walang kinalaman sa dati niyang injury.

“This was a direct correlation to the incident that happened in Utah,” ani Marks. “I think with any 21-year-old that’s played a lot of basketball you’re going to have a little bit of wear and tear. The good thing is he’s young enough and he’s certainly going to bounce back from something like this. We’re not too concerned in that regard.”

Napanood si Russell sa 12 games para sa Brooklyn ngayong season at nagtala ng team-leading averages na 20.9 points at 5.7 assists.

Si Spencer Dinwiddie ang magiging starting point guard kapalit ni Russell.

Sinabi rin ni Marks na malaki ang posibilidad na mag-a-apply ang Brooklyn para sa disabled player exception para kay Jeremy Lin na nagtamo ng season-ending ruptured patellar tendon.

Hindi nag-apply ang Nets  para sa disabled player exception sa dating injury ni  Russell.
