NU magdedepensa ng SSL Unity Cup crown
MANILA, Philippines — Idedepensa ng National University ang kanilang korona laban sa 16 pang karibal sa paghataw ng 2026 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Unity Cup sa Setyembre 25 sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Itataya ng Lady Bulldogs ang kanilang titulo kontra sa anim na UAAP squads at 10 NCAA teams sa centerpiece tournament na itinataguyod ng Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, Potato Corner at R and B Milk Tea.
Sa likod ng main backer Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI), magdaragdag ang SSL ng cash prizes para sa mga podium finishers kung saan P1 milyon ang makukuha ng magrereyna.
Ang runner-up ay tatanggap ng P600,000 at ang third-place squad ay magbubulsa ng P300,000.
Ang mga individual award winners ay bibigyan ng tig-P10,000, habang ang tournament Most Valuable Player ay mag-uuwi ng P30,000.
“After our successful staging of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League and the National Invitationals to start the season, of course, we want this year’s Unity Cup to be bigger, thrilling, and explosive,” ani Dr. Ian Laurel, president at chairman ng SSL organizer Athletic Events and Sports Management, Inc. (ACES), sa press conference kahapon sa Shakey’s Quezon Avenue branch.
Dumalo rin sa press launch sina SPAVI President at CEO Vic Gregorio, SPAVI General Manager Oliver Sicam at SPAVI Marketing Head Regina Asa pati na ang mga coaches at key players ng mga participating teams.
“Since 2004, Shakey’s has been there supporting the growth and development of the sport here in the country. And Shakey’s continues that commitment through the staging of the SSL,” sabi ni Gregorio.
Hindi lalaro ang reigning UAAP champion De La Salle University dahil sa injuries ng ilan nilang key players.
