Gilas sisimulan na ang kampanya vs Singapore
MANILA, Philippines — Sabi nga ng mga Pinoy, “Matalo na sa lahat huwag lang sa basketball.”
Sisimulan ng Gilas Pilipinas ang pagpuntirya sa ika-13 sunod na men’s basketball crown sa pagsagupa sa Singapore sa 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Makikipagtuos ang Nationals kontra sa mga Singaporeans ngayong alas-8:15 ng gabi sa MOA Arena sa Pasay City.
“This is our home territory, we’re hosting, we want to make sure that our showcase sport wins the gold medal and so we’re gonna go really hard and try to figure out the best way to do this and do it well. That’s the goal,” wika ni two-time PBA Grand Slam champion coach Tim Cone.
Ang Gilas Pilipinas ay pamumunuan ni five-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo kasama sina FIBA World Cup campaigners Troy Rosario, Japeth Aguilar, Kiefer Ravena at veteran guard LA Tenorio.
Ipinalit ni Cone si seven-foot Greg Slaughter para kay injured big guard RR Pogoy.
“They have worked hard and have been serious in their approach. We’re hoping that translates once we hit the floor Wednesday against Singapore,” sabi ng 60-ayos na si Cone.
Ang iba pang nasa line-up ay sina Stanley Pringle, Matthew Wright, Marcio Lassiter, Chris Ross, Christian Standhardinger at Vic Manuel.
Matapos ang Singapore ay haharapin ng Nationals ang Vietnam sa Sabado at ang Myanmar sa Linggo.
