Open forum sa POC binabalak
MANILA, Philippines - Kung matutuloy, ang itinatakdang open forum sa hanay ng mga kandidato para sa Philippine Olympic Committee elections sa Nobyembre 30 ay magiging maayos, maganda at malinis.
“It’s not a room for debate. It’s not the place to argue,” wika ni Ricky Palou, isa sa tatlong miyembro ng POC elections committee ukol sa pinaplanong open forum sa Nobyembre 15.
Ang lahat ng 40 miyembro ng POC, bukod pa kay International Olympic Committee representative to the Philippines, Frank Elizalde, at dalawang miyembro ng athletes’ commission na sina boxer Harry Tañamor at long jumper Marestella Torres ay iimbitahan sa nasabing okasyon.
Si dating congressman Victorico Chaves, namumuno sa elections committee, ang nakaisip sa open forum para mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga miyembro ng POC na malaman ang plataporma ng mga kandidato.
Si Br. Bernie Oca ng La Salle ang ikatlong miyembro ng elections committee.
“That’s all there is to the forum. Everybody will get the chance to listen to the candidates speak out their program. They will not be there fighting each other. There will be no attacks on any person,” wika ni Palou.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na ang isang open forum ay itinatakda na malapit sa POC elections.
Maliban sa presidency at chairmanship ng POC, paglalabanan din ang mga puwesto sa first at second vice presidents, treasurer, auditor at directors.
