Bagamat hindi naabot ng mga atletang Pinoy ang inaasahang 40 gold medals sa kanilang kampanya sa katatapos pa lamang na Southeast Asian Games, mayroon namang mga positibong pagbabago.

Ang magandang ipinakita ng Tracksters ayon kay Garcia ay lumukob sa pagkabigo ng bansa sa swimming at taekwondo ngunit ang pinakamasaklap ay ang pagkabokya ng boxing.

Sa kabuuang 162 medals, ang ikalawang pinakamataas sa huling limang edisyon ng biennial meet, ito ay isa nang malaking karangalan ayon kay Garcia dahil ito ay nalikom ng pinakamaliit na delegasyong ipinadala ng bansa sa SEA Games.

May 352 atleta ang ipinadala sa Kuala Lumpur na nag-uwi ng 30 golds, 66 silvers at 66 bronzes.

"So for us to say that one medal was at least shared by two athletes is a good statistics for us to ponder on. We’ve always said that it’s a lean but mean contingent and the team definitely did well compared to the countries which had sent more than 500 entries," ani Garcia.

"We will have to sustain this momentum and get stronger in the next SEA Games in Vietnam and then in 2005 which we will host," dagdag pa ni Garcia.
