Dagupan school gets laptops
MANILA, Philippines - Procter and Gamble (P&G)’s e.Studyante program that aims to give one million wi-fi ready XO laptops to schools nationwide has extended its help to Lucao Elementary School in Dagupan City with its local partner CSI.
P&G officials, Department of Education representatives and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, CSI Group of Companies president and chief executive officer, joined hands in the product demonstration and in expounding the benefits that the beneficiaries from grades four, five and six pupils would derive from the donation of 150 laptops.
Lucao Elementary School is the first school outside Metro Manila that would benefit from the project since it was launched last year.
“These child-friendly laptops would empower children through education as students become more engaged in their learning process, h Jia Salindong, P&G e.Studyante country marketing manager, said.
She said this would complement traditional learning methods and tools. A laptop and Internet connectivity become the students’ window to the world of knowledge.
These tools encourage them to dream and attain a brighter future, she added.
Lucao Elementary School will also receive teacher training.
Fernandez, whose family owns the biggest mall in Dagupan City, said she is thankful to P&G for responding to her request through partnership with their family’s chain of malls in Pangasinan.
She said CSI is proud to partner with P&G in the e.Studyante program.
“The city is exceedingly grateful for the efforts of P&G in bringing invaluable advancement to education to the students of Lucao Elementary School,” she added.
P&G believes that the “Isang laptop, mas malawak na kaalaman, mas maliwanang na bukas” thrust is more than just an educational tool. These laptops also represent opportunities for the students as these will encourage them to more confidently pursue their dreams, equipped with knowledge of the world now made available to them, Salindong said.
“P&G helps to touch and improve lives and with CSI, this vision is becoming a reality in Dagupan,” she added.
P&G envisions to distribute one million specially designed, child-friendly laptops nationwide when it celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2035.
The e.Studyante program is P&G Philippines’ long-term e-learning advocacy launched in partnership with Smart Communications and Synergeia Foundation.
