The rebirth of Ford EDSA

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

Ford EDSA’s new building was inaugurated recently, receiving a rousing welcome from the car firm’s associates and proud car owners alike. The new facility was built solely for the comfort and enjoyment of Ford buyers. Ford EDSA singlehandedly defended the brand from buyers’ hesitations that the car company would leave the country again, leaving car owners with no spare parts.

The inauguration coincided with the celebration of the car company’s 20 years of doing business at the same location — first as Edison Mobile Hydraulics, then as American Automotive Center. Ford EDSA is the first authorized dealer in the country and was the first to bring in the iconic Ford Expedition to the Philippines.

Among those seen at the festive event were Ford ASEAN president Mark Kaufman, Ford Group Philippines managing director Kay Hart, Ford EDSA president Edmund Yee and his wife, Mazda Makati chairman Annie Tan-Yee, Sen. JV Ejercito and San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez. Other guests included partners, bankers and insurers of Ford EDSA, Makati Ford and Ford Cainta, Ford Group Philippines team, Ford Club officers and members, Ford Forza Triathlon team, Edmund Yee’s golfing buddies and avid readers of Annie Tan-Yee’s blog.

Ford is here to stay. Congratulations and happy anniversary!

‘The GoDown’ in Tagaytay

Family and friends gathered recently at the ceremonial blessing of the latest go-to destination for artisanal craft beer, tapas, pintxos and wines in cool Tagaytay — The GoDown Bar. The bar’s name originated from the Malay word godong, which means a place for storage or warehouse.

The watering hole is found underneath Cafe Voi La, located in the Alpine Village of the breathtaking Swiss-inspired Crosswinds luxury resort. Crosswinds is a 100-hectare prime leisure development of Brittany Corp., the country’s leading developer of luxury homes in master-planned communities.

The GoDown Bar owner Ica Sebastian proudly welcomed her guests led by Vista Land chairman Manny Villar to her new venture.

Guests enjoyed the bar’s warm ambiance and interesting interiors as they dug into the giant paella for a taste of the bar’s mouthwatering signature dish and artisanal craft beer. There were also delectable baked goods fresh from the bar’s bakeshop to be had.

Congratulations to The GoDown Bar!

All for cancer awareness & prevention

The private, non-stock, non-profit corporation Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) recently launched its mobile cancer screening clinic, a renovated passenger bus donated by Victory Liner.

The said mobile clinic will be offering free screening for breast and cervical cancer, with Taguig City as the first beneficiary of the said mission.

During the event, PCS president Dr. Cora Ngelangel and director Dr. Rachael Marie Rosario recognized the invaluable contribution of the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines to the various projects of PCS. The Best Dressed Women of the Philippines was represented by selection and organizing committee member Elaine Rojas-Villar, event chairperson Angola Consul Helen Ong and Ambassador for Life Carol Mercado, who pledged for the cryotherapy machine to be installed in the mobile clinic.

Cheers and more power to the Philippine Cancer Society and the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines for staging this noteworthy event!
