Where to unwind in Cebu

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

The newly renovated The Tinder Box, one of Cebu City’s favorite establishments, feted its work associates, the ladies of Cebu society, its local media, and other regular guests to a sumptuous repast recently.

With a café, cigar lounge, wine cellar and deli, The Tinder Box is the perfect place to dine, wine and unwind. Its Z Bar is home to one of Kenneth Cobonpue’s brilliant interiors. The elegant dining area called Restaurant Aziza, named after its lovely owner Aziza Mondoñedo, has thrown in some innovations and introduced molecular gastronomy, thanks to chef Marleen Ong. Aziza’s equally gorgeous mom Marlene Mondoñedo was on hand to help entertain the guests to helpings of the delicious spread that night.

The dinner was just the first of a series of intimate dinners Aziza has planned to launch the newly renovated establishment. “Ideally, I like to keep the number of guests to a dozen; that way they can experience the whole place without feeling harassed,” she added.

That’s the best way to entertain…we couldn’t agree more! A memorable evening for Angie

It was a special evening when family and close friends of the lovely Angie Sison gathered as she celebrated her birthday in their opulent home in Alabang.

A wonderful dinner party was organized by the celebrator’s ever-supportive husband Dodi along with their children David, Alvin and Paolo. Guests were treated to special canapés including foie gras with truffles, delectable Italian antipasti and classic French onion soup complemented by vintage Merlots and Chardonnays.

Being the gracious hostess that she is, Angie made sure that all her guests had a great time. The party went on until past midnight as everyone enjoyed sharing fond stories about the endearing celebrator.

Here’s to another year full of love and blessings, dear Angie!

The stunning woman that is Sophia

Starting her journey towards womanhood is the charming Sophia Ricafort Climaco who celebrated her 18th birthday at Salon de Ning of The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.

The debutante’s loving family — parents Emmanuel and Monica, sisters Michaela and Gaby, grandparents Benny Ricafort and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) commissioner Nona Ricafort and Rosario Climaco — and closest friends were all present that night to make the celebration even more memorable and special for Sophia.

Guests were treated to a gastronomic spread of sumptuous dishes served during the sit-down dinner. The highlight of the evening came with the presentation of the 18 roses, with all the participating gentlemen personally chosen by the debutante herself.

Here’s to a life filled with blessings and surprises, Sophia!
