Celebrating five beautiful, Belo-fied years

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

Continuously soaring to greater heights is the country’s premier dermatology and cosmetic surgery center Belo Medical Group as the company’s Cebu clinic celebrated its fifth anniversary.

Belo Cebu, the only branch outside Metro Manila, organized a Mardi Gras-themed party for its loyal clients, with the hardworking Belo Medical Group CEO and founder Dr. Vicki Belo as the guest of honor. Patients had the opportunity to have one-on-one consultations with the one and only doctor to the stars.

Later that evening, Belo joined Cebu’s A-listers from the government, business and social circles for the unveiling of the Spring/Summer 2014 collection of talented designer Mia Arcenas. The stunning designer, who finished a course in Apparel Manufacturing Management with the highest honors at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, was welcomed that night as the city’s freshest face in fashion. Belo was among the major supporters of the said fashion show as it was part of the month-long celebration of the clinic’s fifth anniversary in Cebu.

Congratulations to Dr. Vicki Belo and team for the unwavering success of all Belo Medical Group clinics!

A celebration of culture through dance

A number of the metro’s luminaries gathered at Arts in the City in Taguig for the launch of Ballet Philippines’ Sapphire Year and 45th season entitled Blue Moon.

The company’s anniversary season will kick off with its blockbuster show Giselle this September, which will be fronted by principal lead dancers and soloists from the American Ballet Theater.

Gracing this momentous affair were Ballet Philippines executives and trustees including president Margie Moran-Floirendo, Maria Ellis, lawyer Lorna Kapunan, Virgie Lane and Ana de Villa-Singson with artistic director Paul Alexander Morales as well as loyal patrons of the country’s premier dance company.

The said event also marked the opening of Ballet Philippines’ two new schools in SM Aura and Cultural Center of the Philippines complex, allowing the dance company to further propagate culture and arts through dance.

Congratulations and more power to Ballet Philippines!

Wearable weaves

The members of the Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHOM) were recently given an update on the tribal weaves of the Philippines during a sumptuous luncheon hosted by Margaret Ledoux, wife of European Union Ambassador Guy Ledoux.

University of the Philippines professor Norma Respicio gave an afternoon talk on the ethnic weaves of the different tribal minorities in the country. On the other hand, Tesoro’s, the definitive store for authentic quality Philippine handicrafts, presented a fashion show featuring weaves cut into modern, wearable styles fit for dressy night outs or as head-turning streetwear.

Over a delicious spread of salads, quiches and fruits, the ambassadors’ wives raved about the designs and materials in the show sponsored by International Bazaar Foundation treasurer Alice Tesoro-Guerrero.

To stand out from the crowd, do wear local!
