Where to talk shop & have a good time

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

Besides being the place where concertgoers and sports fans meet before or after a spectacular performance of their celebrity idols, SuperStar Sports Grill and Bar is fast becoming the venue of choice of executives and professionals to talk shop and still have a great time.

Located at the ground floor of the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena, SuperStar is more than just a typical sports bar. Open for lunch and dinner, SuperStar offers a first-rate variety of international cuisine and an array of exciting drinks from around the world.

When entertaining visiting foreign counterparts or work associates, check out SuperStar’s ultra-chic Bar Lounge that can seat a maximum of 22 persons. Privacy is assured for those further meetings needed to close the deal at the posh SuperStar VIP Lounge that can accommodate functions for a maximum of 14 guests.

An exceptional menu, stylized interiors, good acoustics, a solicitous staff — these are just a few of the many reasons why we find SuperStar to be the best place to talk about work when not at work.

A fete for two gentlemen

The dashing bachelor and man-about-town Richard Tiu and the popular brilliant banker, CTBC Bank (Philippines) Corp. vice chairman William “Bill” Go were feted at a dinner hosted by yours truly at Umu, Dusit Thani Manila’s premier Japanese restaurant that serves authentic Japanese food specially prepared by Japanese chefs accompanied with excellent sake and, yes, even a selection of French white wines, vintage Italian wines and champagne.

The evening was a roaring success with friends such as Camilla Sundman from Sweden, Richwell Trading Corp. president and CEO Myrna Yao, the ever-pretty and accomplished entrepreneur Maila Garcia, gorgeous Zumba diva Marje Syjuco, PR maven Cristina del Carmen and lovely jewelry designer Aziza Mondoñedo. Excellent food, a classy and relaxing ambiance were appreciated by all. Additional thanks goes to the solicitous Dusit Thani Manila general manager Alex Willats.

Art in degustation

Gourmands and food connoisseurs are up for a rare dining experience at The Tivoli, Mandarin Oriental Manila’s signature restaurant, with its ongoing promotion featuring the sensational specialties and artistic mouthwatering creations of acclaimed Michelin-starred French chef, Richard Toix.

The fresh and sumptuous flavors of chef Richard’s award-winning cuisine are available to The Tivoli diners until March 2 via the signature three-course Business Lunch menu, and the six-course Degustation Dinner menu with wine pairing, if preferred. A selection of dishes will also be featured in the restaurant’s daily à la carte menu.

Welcoming the French chef at The Tivoli were Mandarin’s F&B director Peter Pysk, executive chef Rene Ottlik and executive sous chef Remi Vercelli. We also thank Mandarin Oriental  Manila general manager Torsten van Dullemen and communications director Charisse Chuidian for making this possible. A special evening for Boey

It was indeed an unforgettable evening for the hardworking Boey Cruz as people closest to his heart all gathered at the Urdaneta Apartments in Makati City to celebrate his birthday.

The intimate party was organized by the celebrator’s lovely wife Carla and ever-supportive mother Baby who personally chose the sumptuous and delectable menu consisting mostly of Boey’s favorite dishes. Overflowing drinks were served all throughout the night as everyone shared fond stories about the fun-loving celebrator.

Making the evening more special was the surprise song number of Carla as she serenaded her husband with their favorite ballads.

Here’s to more blessed and healthy years, Boey!
