MANILA, Philippines – PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson once again made headlines last week for receiving an award from the UST Alumni Association Inc. (USTAAI) and for mistaking the location of Mayon Volcano.
On January 24, Uson returned the government service award to the USTAAI after receiving criticism following the conferment of the award.
USTAAI president Henry Tenedero had tendered his resignation while the association stood firm on its decision not to rescind the recognition conferred to Uson.
"The USTAAI most humbly expresses its sincerest apologies to the Father Rector, UST Administration, alumni, students, and the general public as well for any reactions that may have resulted from the conferment of the recognitions in the Thomasian Alumni in Government Service," the USTAAI said in a statement.
Uson also trended on social media when she said Mayon Volcano was in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
