PDEA: We move in silence

This letter serves as a follow-up to the one sent last Dec. 16, 2022, as well as a response to the latest “Sentinel” columns of Mr. Ramon Tulfo that were published in The Philippine STAR Opinion section entitled: “One of a kind” and “A touching and revealing letter” dated Dec. 22 and Dec. 27, 2022, respectively.

The said articles stated in retort that I kept mum on matters involving the alleged acts of indiscriminate looting of valuables during the recent implementation of a search warrant in Ayala Alabang village pinned on members of PDEA-Southern District Office (SDO) – the same men who were arrested by police authorities in an entrapment operation inside their own turf in Taguig City.

Silence does not necessarily mean that PDEA never dared to lift a finger in pursuit of the authenticity of the accusations. We move in silence only to speak when truth is finally unveiled.

To complement our on-going in-depth investigation, PDEA is acting in close coordination with the lawyers of the foreign nationals and a Filipino in custody – the supposed victims of the looting, awaiting their sworn affidavits. The counsels have promised PDEA their clients’ full cooperation, inclusive of photographs of the purported missing items.

Please be assured that once the investigation has been completed, you will be among the first to know the result.

We would like to thank The Philippine STAR for the staunch support to the national anti-drug campaign. PDEA remains ever committed to liberate the country from the scourge of illegal drugs. – Moro Virgilio M. Lazo, Director General, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)
