Implement law on reserved seats in buses

The Philippine Star

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will hold a consultation meeting with bus operators to discuss implementation of Republic Act 967 and Batas Pambansa Bilang 344.

As provided for under said laws, buses are required to reserve seats for senior citizens, persons with disability and pregnant women.

The consultation meeting is LTFRB’s response to the complaint of our senior citizens group on why reserved seats for disadvantaged commuters mentioned above are occupied by physically normal passengers.

The complaint was filed by our Committee of Senior Citizens Affairs of  Sorrento Townhomes Homeowners Association in Camella Sorrento, Panapaan IV, Bacoor City.

Despite the sign at the top of the seats of buses they are reserved other passengers occupy them.

The senior citizens group is calling on the LTFRB to request bus operators to strictly implement the law.  — Leonardo Canta,  Panapaan IV, Bacoor City
