MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that there will be no classes or office work in all National Capital Region (NCR) schools from November 17 to 20 due to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leader’s meeting.

The cancelation was made in accordance with DepEd’s memorandum issued by NCR DepEd schools division director Luz Almeda last August 10 and 18. The memorandum was made public on Tuesday.

On July 14, President Benigno Aquino III also declared November 18 and 19 as non-working holidays to give way for the APEC leaders' meeting making it a four-day holiday for students and employees of NCR schools.

On Tuesday, Aquino also declared September 25, as a national holiday in line with the Muslims’ observance of Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice. September 25 falls on a Friday.
