Banat Opinyon

Ang panagtam- bayayong Simbahan ug Estado

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Sa akong hunahuna, kining giingon nga separation of Church and State, nagpasabut kini nga dili maghilabtanay ang Simbahan ug Gobiyerno. Dili mag-away.

Atong kutluon kining pamahayag ni Archbishop Charles John Brown ang Papal Nuncio dinhi sa Pilipinas: “President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has voiced his readiness to cooperate closely with the Catholic Church and the Vatican.”

Si Marcos mihimo niining maong commitment atol sa courtesy call ngadto kaniya, kanila ni Brown ug laing lima ka foreign diplomats, diin si Brown nagkanayon nga ang ilang pagpakigkita sa president-elect, was ‘positive’ and ‘productive.’

Dugang ni Brown: “We had a very productive, encouraging and positive discussion and the president-elect assured me of his desire to collaborate, cooperate closely with the church and Holy See.”

Sayo pa, ang social arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) mi-congratulate ni Marcos ug sa vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Ania:

(When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard):

“Father we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know your Word says, “Woe to those who call evil good,” but this is exactly what we have done.

“We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and we have reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and we called it choice. We shot antiabortionists and we called it justifiable.

“We have neglected to discipline our children and we called it building self esteem. We have abused power and we called politics. We have committed our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.

“We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honoured values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

“Search us Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us of every sin and set us free. Amen.”
