Thoughts to guide us by

Elvie Punzalan-Estavillo - The Philippine Star

(For May 2018)

The despicable housing projects for our double- whammy-hit Kababayans ... angered those who saw them. They were victims twice: by nature’s wrath that we cannot do about, and, worse, by man’s cruelty and greed, which can be avoided..

‘Twas providential some politicians saw and experience the pitiful, shameful, degrading housing projects for our calamity-stricken Kababayans. Hopefully, it triggers a full investigation resulting in concrete, corrective actions.

The taxes we pay, and those by our modern-day heroes’ blood, sweat, and tears are wasted indiscriminately on those not-fit-to-live-in safely, decently, humanely housing projects. They glaringly are devoid of any concern on our Kababayans’ plight, welfare, safety, badly in need of roof over their heads!

Have those in charge of constructing housing and other designed-to-alleviate projects become deaf and blind to the sorry plight of our marginalized brethren? Is amassing wealth the sole motivating factor that their consciences are  no longer pricked – their hearts touched by their pleas for humane treatment and conditions?

Having compassion and opening our hearts and hands to help the poor, hungry, homeless, sincerely, caringly... are footprints we can leave to remember us by...

Peace, compassion, abundance to us all!
