In 2010 I received a call from a friend who knew the late Dr. Steve Agular, a close friend of Ninoy Aquino. Agular was a psychiatrist and headed the psychiatric department in Wellesley College in Boston. He was asked by Ninoy to look at his son, Noynoy kasi walang ka-drive drive. Whatever that means I was soon to know what Ninoy meant by “walang ka-drive drive.” It was more serious than I thought and so did many Filipinos. It was too late by the time he was elected. It would last for six years. Whoever his supporters were who knew of his defect and yet sadistically pushed him to become president had ulterior motives. He would be the right person to fulfill their agenda precisely of his vulnerability.
Thank God it is ending after all the disastrous decisions he made that hurt the country. You would think that those who were in the political scheme of a president with a troubled mind would have learned their lesson. Nada.
Today another candidate looms to continue the agenda. This time it would be subtler. She is the “foundling” known as Grace Poe. Let me say once and for all that it would be a grave mistake no different from the mistake we made with Aquino. It will be a huge faux pas. It will be a grievous mistake. Unless of course we want more hardship and suffering for the country we will have a great faux Poe. She is no better than the Aquino walang ka drive drive that we should never have had.
As a writer to my email says “it is clear that Roxas and Binay cannot win. So she became the chosen one to contest the extremely popular Duterte. Make no mistake about it – The contest will be between Duterte and Poe. “The real battle will be between these two. It was planned for systemically since the 2013 senatorial elections when she shot up to the top with the help of Smartmatic-PCOS.
The writer continues “Please do not be misled that the real biggest backer of Poe is Danding Cojuangco. No. Danding is a very sickly man these days and does not care much about the world anymore. His right hand man Ramon Ang, a very astute businessman, is not a political animal like his boss.
The real biggest backer of Poe however is no other than P-Noy himself and the LP-Samar group led by Paquito Ochoa.”
Smartmatic PCOS will be used again with debates between concerned citizens and Comelec circling around the issue of the campaign and the election itself instead of the defects of Poe faux. We may be battling with the wrong end of the stick. We should be more afraid of what will happen after the election when the counting shall have been made. The cheating will be in the counting and no amount of precaution and safety measure can trace how it was done.
But public opinion as peddled by mainstream media and paid surveys are already doing the work to make the Faux Poe acceptable. Poor Roxas. Twice double-crossed and still willing to be used. We have been led to believe that it was he who would benefit with PCOS cheating. Poe’s backers are making sure he is projected as a loser then Poe will be free to be the only challenger to the overwhelmingly popular Duterte who has been attracting the biggest crowds in the political history of the country.
You can already read what the plan will be. Everything will be done to make it seem like a close fight between the two candidates there would be no complaints about Smarmatic PCOS. Yet it is obvious to anyone with eyes to see that those who come to Poe’s meetings are a miniscule few compared to Duterte’s millions That is the crowd of the poor and the marginal sectors who have become aware of their power in numbers. Everything will be done to make Poe win because it is she who will save P-Noy and Co from all the cases that will be brought against him when he steps down on June 30.
If there were four out of ten who believed before earlier that the Smartmatic PCOS machines cannot be trusted there are even more now. Up to now the receipts is being questioned or as Chairman Bauatista himself said in his meeting with STAR editors and columnists we will have chaos when voters protest that the name of the candidate on his ballot is not the same as the one on the ballot he signed. I am more afraid of what Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista said that the Comelec cannot guarantee hacking whether coming from inside or outside.
If it cannot guarantee there will be no hacking what is the assurance for? We will either have a clean and honest elections or we will not.
“I won’t say that cheating is impossible because there is no system that cannot be hacked. But I can say that since 2010, there is no evidence that there has been cheating using the PCOS machines,” he said.
Several countries have stopped using automated electoral systems. They have stopped discussions on cyber technicalities. In the end it was a principle involved that “a voter must understand using his common sense the process of voting up to the time his vote is counted.” Other than that, the election would be unconstitutional.
According to the decision of the Federal Constitutional Court, the computer-controlled voting machines used in the election of the 16th German Bundestag did not meet the requirements which the constitution places on the use of electronic voting machines.
With Bautista talking at two ends of his mouth – his declaration and the absence of security features have merely increased public suspicion about the results of the elections.
Why is Comelec doing this? My guess is it really wants failed elections. For what purpose, we do not know. But whatever its game plan is, it can backfire.
