Opinion

Too little, too many

VERBAL VARIETY - Annie Fe Perez - The Freeman

On a spur of the moment trip to a reflexologist, I succumbed to the pain that accompanied the pleasure in having your feet relaxed after month-long stress. It was something new for me, considering that foot massages in a dainty spa chair were those that tick me. This, on the other hand, was road style rodeo slumping on a monobloc chair and gripping to its edges every time the pain hurt too much.

I then realized that I hadn't had that much attention to myself lately, with everything that is going on around. You see, the world that I am revolving in constantly changes and it stirs like a three hundred degree pendulum; it never stops. That being said, the line "Time of the essence" spells my life in a whole.

Many say that they have no time to venture into other activities in their lives because of the similar world we all are revolving in. But I say, you don't know how to make time. There are too many ways to make do of the too little time that you have, such as changing the world in the littlest possible manner that could have.

I recently came across this year's batch of communication students who stood up to the test of showcasing their talents before their own colleagues. The whole event was organized under pressure in a span of less than a month. On the day itself I was gritting my teeth at the possibility of participants that did not have what it took because of the lack of practice. Yet I was amazed at what the students gave on that fateful day. They all had the guts and the confidence up on our teeny stage given the little time that they had to practice. It goes to show that they too could manage their time well.

The praxis is very simple: Prioritize. I guess the same goes to all other things that move around us as well, say, Philippine politics. For months we have been hearing the same names on the national news on who will run for the most coveted presidency. As we all know, the current administration is about it close and known for its campaign against corruption. The question now is who deserves the "throne"? There are many choices, especially come the time when the candidates will be at place but with a finger sift it is quite obvious that there is only too little to chose from.

Yesterday a few of the leaders came and visited our vote rich Cebu. In a day, there were too many of them to handle. It's an overwhelming feeling that they chose to set foot on where we are, an island in the middle of the Visayas. Yet they cannot underscore the fact that our votes do really matter. As a voter, your time would matter on whose words would you listen to? It will be confusing but worth the decision afterwards.

So it's up to you, as a voter, on who should you prioritize. Like time, it needs careful pondering or else you will miss the chance at changing the country. Of course, we have all dreamed of that since day one. When will we ever stop dreaming for a promise that has been said for decades? When will our dreams for a greater cause, that for our country to rise up above the rest? We made it before, we can do it again.

There is no room to be in disgust with all that's going on. That's how it really is. Just make do with what's too many yet too little.
