Ukay-ukay

UKAY-UKAY.  A local businesswoman who operates an ukay-ukay shop exports a good quantity of her used clothing stock to two nearby Asean cities. This she confided to an Ear informer. She said her ukay-ukay exports are destined to the cities where ukay-ukay of "second hand" garments is new to local consumers.

BACKDOOR. She said the ukay-ukay garments are shipped through the Phl backdoor but they are not smuggled. "They are documented shipments," she said without giving details to our Ear informer.
